I am commanded by the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to transmit for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, the attached copy of a letter dated the 11th September 1901, from Messrs Punchard Lowther & Co., the Admiralty Contractors for the Extension Works at H.M. Naval Yard at Hong Kong, drawing attention to the great difficulties and restrictions under which the Supply of the local stone for these works is being
obtained.
I am to point out the great inconvenience and delay that the extraordinary procedure referred to entails upon the Contractors, and My Lords would request the favour of the immediate intervention of the
Secretary of State in the matter, so that the progress
of these important Naval works may not be further delayed.
